A stack draft regulator is needed to stabilise the stack draft. The stack draught varies with the weather conditions and depends on wind, temperature and other factors. Each manufacturer specifies in the boiler passport at the time of manufacture what the optimum draft of the boiler should be in order to maximise the efficiency of the boiler. In most cases the stack draft is too high. The chimney is built according to the old "solid fuel" habit. That is, an atmospheric wood or coal boiler, without any air supply fan, and usually with a higher moisture content and a huge amount of cold smoke to be removed during the combustion process.
Only 5-10 Pa are needed for maximum efficiency. The draft for a "solid fuel" (wood boiler with a diameter of 150 to 200 mm) in a built chimney is 20-50 Pa, depending on the chimney, the height, the outside air temperature and the wind. As the draught in the chimney changes, the efficiency of your boiler rapidly decreases and this is the biggest problem that causes boilers to consume a lot of fuel. No matter what type of boiler you have, whether it's a gas boiler, a wood-burning boiler, a coal boiler, a pellet boiler or a liquid fuel boiler, they all use significantly more fuel when the draft changes. It is estimated that with a draft regulator, fuel consumption can be reduced between 20% and 70% (gas, diesel 20%, coal 40%, wood up to 70%).
Excess thrust extracts a large amount of the unconsumed heat of the burning fuel. The draft increases strongly as the stack temperature rises or as the outside temperature drops. With a draft regulator, the draft is stable and ensures good system performance. The heating unit performs more optimally and the parameters are brought closer to those specified by the manufacturer.
You will see the results after a week with the draft regulator, the boiler walls will not be covered with soot, the smoke will not penetrate inside and the chimney will be clean.
